National Child Education Exhibition & Conference
♥
This is going to be a boring post!
But if you're ECH educator, you may want to read on..
Am involved in some events..
So today, I went for Day 1 of the event..
Not sure if you've heard of this~

Apparently, I'm helping my friend to do media coverage for this event..
I know what you are thinking..
But no, no microphone tt sort, not so complicated..
They have a few events running concurrently in this
National Child Exhibition and Conference...
Like for today, they have a arithmetic competition
consisting of mental sums and abacus calculation,
where kids as young as 4 to older ones ard 12yrs old, compete together
for trophy...
But It is totally crazy in the hall..
Imagine these little kids sitting for 'O' levels?!
Yeah, they are treated like adults sitting for exams..
I do have alot of concerns and doubts about it but
I'd better keep these comments to myself because
both companies (my friend's and this big company who has
oganized the competition are working partners)..
No doubt its kind of amazing and shocking seeing
how fast they can solve those math sums..
Pondering on why my mum nv sent me to these classes, tsktsk..
Lols.. Actually she did!
I was in the abacus class in pri level, buuuttt
I wonder what I was doing then..
Cause I'm totally not a math person at all and I flunked
most of my math papers until my GCE examinations..
Well, besides the competition, there are also exhibitions
of the different Early Childhood related stuff -
reading materials for educators, children, teaching aids,
enrichment centres recommendation, courses etc etc..
Had a great chat with the representatives from National Geographic.. They have a whole range of magazines for different readers, kids - adults, which is common, but they have another range for school use.. That means, they have the magazine for kids tt comes in teacher's copy, advance kids copy and the not so advance kids copy, though the underlying content is the same, just tt content has been simplied and extra ideas throw in for educators in the tch's guide.. And for educators they even throw in teaching softwares, teachers' guide and events/nature trails organized for schools.. Totally cool.. hahas.. Not because I like National Geographic, But I think kids can learn alot from these nature-related learning, plants and animals.. I am thinking of subscribing, but wait till I get my own class and suitable age grp first.. You can come over and chat with the representatives to know more info.. Subsquently, you can also get their magazine for free in their 'goody bag'and consider whether you want to get their magazinesfor teaching/personal purposes.Besides tt, I am so interested in getting alot of teaching materials there,
e.g the pointers which we saw in those videos during class but
there are even more advance ones such as those tt will light up,
with various sounds, buttons and etc; puppets of the different
themes, stories, fairytales; manipulatives; flash cards; special beanie bag
with alphabets/numbers/shapes; Books for new educators,
ideas for lesson plans, wrkin with chn with Special needs etcccc~
Small exhibition but the booth carries 'substance'..
And they are having
15%-20% discount!
Thus, I'm writing this post,
and if you're coincidentally reading this post
NOW,
you probably may want to pop by tomorrow (the exhibition is
only till Monday) at EXPO to
take a look and GET the teaching aids..
(You can shun bian drop by,
cause there are food, IT, Popular, Sports, Home-related stuff etccc
at other exhibition halls)
From 10 - 8pm tomorrow..
For tomorrow and Tuesday,
there will be a conference going on where
international and local renowned speakers, e.g Howard Gardner
will be sharing child-related topics for the delegates..
And the privileged me,
do not have to pay the $450+ fee and could
sit in and enjoy the conference..
Quite interesting butttttttt imagine
sitting in class listening to our professors for a whole 8hrs,
for both days..
And I think I'll get to
interview some of the speakers..
Ok, I'm kind of worried if they speak in a
really slang ascent, how am I going to comprehend..
Hope all is well :D
Will upload interesting photos after the whole event..
PS: Was searching high & low for notebooks
so tt I can take notes tomorrow.. AND I realize
tt I've kept everything in the box, sealed and stacked
up by many other similar looking boxes.. :(
still hunting for notepad!
Alright, toodles~
Exciting week for me, hope ya enjoy yr week too!
