Blood Donation 09
♥
Went for Blood Donation at HSA yst..
Liang was super enthu about it when
we were discussing abt it on our way home on Sat..
We made plan to donate blood..
In the end, Ah Ne backed out at the last minute..
I know his little secret.. hahas..
Our dear Mister, first-time donor literally got a shocked
when he saw that there were 3 empty packets
(Not sure about the technical term,
its the one used to collect our blood)
instead of 1..
He turned over and asked me, '3 packets?!'
I was stunned.
Am already nervous, my heart almost jumped
out when he said that..
lols
The staff nurse who
overheard our conversation, quickly told
him not to worry, they were only drawing out
1 packet of blood, which was separated to help different
patients and she went on
to explain to him the procedures, patiently..
I think the staff nurse who helped me
was also very nice..
She told me that my veins were small,
equivalent to size of the needle. :P
Yesh, the needle and my blood vein is as thick as a yakult straw..
During the process, she was ard most of the time to massage my arm
and kept asking me if it was painful..
Special privilege :)
After which, she kept repeating that I'll have a huge bruise on my arm
after the process or after a day or two, even though
I kept insisting that I did not have any bruise at all
from previous donations.
In the end I gave in and said,
'Perhaps the bruise was too small that
I didnt notice.'
-.- And she agreed with me..
What I didnt expect was, she went off and came back with 3 tiny
tubs of 'Hirudoid Cream' and said
'Apply this on the bruise and it will
recover faster. If anything were to happen,
you can still come back here and the staff will help you.'
hahas.. I looked so frail to her..
But am still *touched* by her thoughtfulness..
I went home and proudly told my mum and
elder bro that I didnt feel any pain at all when
they withdrew the blood, compare to the
previous attempts..
My bro looked at me and told me that they
have already injected novocaine to numb the nerve
before drawing out the blood.. The reason that
I felt the pain during the last two
attempts was probably because the nurse didnt inject properly..
-.-" And it was tt day that I know the first jab
was actually novocaine. I've always assumed that the first jab
was to withdraw my blood for some testing procedures..
Okk.. I learned something new afterall..

:) Congrats to Liang for saving 3 lives with your
'3 packets' of blood. lols
I found this interesting article on the process of
